Morning Routines

The Ritual

My morning routine is one of the best parts of my day. It’s when I can get grounded, breathe deep, and truly set my intentions for the day for myself + our family. Below is a short list (+ some) on how I start my mornings.

> Designated wake time

> Hydrate + caffeinate

> Prayer + gratitude practice

> Rest + digest

> Supplements

> Welcome the day

Designated Wake Time:

The main benefit of a consistent wake time is its impact on our circadian rhythm. These inner clocks are highly sensitive to our routines, and like for things to be kept at the same day-in and day-out.

Having a specified wake time each day will benefit sleep + set you up for success for your new morning routine. My wake time is in the 5:00 am hour. This will look different for everyone so assess what time feels right to you and see how you can implement this within the next couple of weeks.

Hydrate + Caffeinate:

When I wake, I like to rehydrate immediately. I drink one glass of water followed by a mug of warm lemon water. I then pour a cup of black coffee + nestle into my cozy corner in our bedroom to start my morning quiet time. During this time I savor my coffee, take in the stillness, and focus on my time in the word + prayer.

The benefits of consuming lemon water are as follows...

> Aids in digestion

> Helps you stay hydrated

> Prevents oxidation

> Supplies a healthy dose of vitamin C

> Provides a potassium boost

Prayer + Gratitude Practice:

I like to read a morning devotional + spend anywhere from 5-15 minutes in prayer during the first half hour of my wake time. This can look different for everyone — journaling, meditation, breath work, etc. Choose whatever practice aligns with you spiritually + implement a rhythm that will serve you on a higher level.

Whatever your morning rhythms are in this season, I hope they serve you well + set you up for success the remainder of the day.

Stay well.
