WELLNESS: A Little Science Spill

Do me a favor—just this once—and indulge me in a little science chat. I mentioned MPS in stories the other day, and it deserves a proper spot here. Consider this your wellness spill, straight from yours truly.

Muscle Protein Synthesis (MPS) is how your body repairs and strengthens muscle post-training. As we age, MPS slows (hello, sarcopenia), leading to muscle loss that impacts strength, mobility, and overall health. Prioritizing protein intake (0.7–1g per pound of body weight), strength training, and proper recovery helps maintain muscle, support metabolism, and reduce injury risk—key factors for longevity and feeling strong in your skin.

The Today Show even had MPS on the agenda: Watch here

IN THE KITCHEN

Proof that simple can still be delicious: Greek Yogurt Ranch Dip. A creamy, tangy go-to for snacking, entertaining, or just elevating your veggie game.

And while I rarely bake, I do excel at a no-bake moment—enter: WELL + WEAR Protein Bars.

EYEING + BUYING

We’re looking ahead—manifesting spring with pieces you’ll be overjoyed to pull out when the warmth returns.

First up, Jelly Flats. A friend slipped me this link, and I had to oblige.
Her pick: Pink (darling)
My pick: Red (a pop I can’t resist)

Also scooped up these because Future Me will be grateful:
Woven Mary Jane in Cream – perfect for those in-between days.
Woven Mary Jane in Brown – for an easy, earthy transition.

And if I’m really being honest…
Steve Madden Grove Jelly in Redchef’s kiss
Steve Madden Grove Jelly in Tan – modern + understated.
Steve Madden Grove Jelly in Green – an unexpected yet intriguing shade.
Steve Madden Grove Jelly in Pink – my mother and daughter’s top choice, naturally.

Now, onto the Hill House drop—which I may or may not be combing through like it’s my job.
Pink Stripe Nap Dress – high on my list.
Sky Bluebonnet Ellie – tugging at my southern heartstrings.
Pink Bluebonnet EllieMother’s Day Brunch, anyone?
Carolina Shirt Dress – like they made this one for me.
Cosima in Navy Emma Stripe – high neckline, highly tempting.

A MOMENT FOR BEAUTY

I was recently gifted the luxe Dior Lip Oil, and yes—it’s every bit as dreamy as you’d imagine. But today, I bring you Dior’s cool cousin: the ELF Lip Oil.

Deemed a close second by my mahjong friends at our holiday favorite things party, I can confirm—it’s remarkably similar. For a solid $6, I recommend grabbing a few and stashing them everywhere: car, bag, office, gym.

Since winter has overstayed its welcome, I’m on a full-throttle nourishment kick—inside and out. You all loved this ultra-hydrating, $15 Target moisturizer as much as I did, so here’s your friendly reminder to stock up.

While you’re at it, this needs to land in your cart, too. Mary Orton sold me on it, and I’m here to sing its praises—clean ingredients, thoughtful formulation, and skin-loving benefits.
